Since the last update on here RC1 has been with the testers. I have isolated a few minor bugs and had them fixed. Today i removed all old code from the config.asp file. We just need to test that all the files work correctly, we have a week and then i shall release the scripts. Also, documentation needs writing, and an online FAQ!
Sidenote from 1.12, i have been working on the silent page refresh, a feature that people are not happy i dropped. I now have it working copy. So far i have only got the mesages pane working, and have shown that i can get the private messages. I will be integrating pms, messages, users and rooms into one giant xml file that is read by one page and sends the data out to where it needs to go to. I will also be coding xml posting for the form page to send the data without refresh. This will arrive at a non refreshing chat application!!! More news soon!

RC1 finished and just needs zipping up and sending out to testers with instructions. Will do this tomorrow! Put online all languages, even those so far incomplete. Modified setup.asp so you cannot alter the database after the system has already been setup once.

Tidied code, finished language config in all files. Tested setup.asp. Prepared final test site and the developers test release.

Silent refresh now removed, PM system back online the proper way, all other features have been rectified! Few bugs to iron out, couple of admin options to add....

The bug fixing continues......
Attempting to fix several problems and realised that the major obstacle was trying to work around the new 'silent refresh' feature. So, i am dropping this from the 1.12 release to work on it more for the 1.2 release! Sorry, but the features it stops working are essential!!

So, i ordered a new mobile today - which is nice! Also, got PMs working now. Will need some feedback on the new system, but its working nicely! One more feature to add on it though and then complete.
Only 3 pages left to put into a language file, then the relevant people should translate into the languages. New feature added to admin, being able to sort the registered list by all the fields.

PM system is 60% complete. Just need to be able to get a conversation going. Can start one easily!!! Modified the secret message slightly for the PM system, but advantageous. PM system finalised over the weekend. Coupla bug fixes also!

Implementing the new PM system, had to create a new feature. This is the secrecy feature. If you type /username message, only you and the designated user will see that message. Nice feature, and was needed for the PM system. Cuppa then work on these Pms
Tomorrow i should get the PMs done, few fixes and then a test site - Nearly DONE!!

Sorry about the lack of progress, been to visit friends!! So, now i am recoding parts of the script. Also putting together the files ready for language translation of the admin and private messages.
Next test site will have german included (needs checking), will have private messages working again, will have admin (viewable, but no actions will be executable), and the updated code!! Prob get this done for tomorrow!!

So, i have finally found a work around to get PMs working with the flicker free chat. Just putting it together now. Will not give details as there will be a new test site this evening (no there won't). Just need to find a way to get the expiry to work!!! The joy of coding!!
Currently ripping the guts of it apart to change system variables, procedures and new PM code.....

Playing with houseclean. Have parameters to turn off deleting users and rooms, just need to create the code to delete messages, will do that after a little play on vice city!!
Well after that play we now have a houseclean file that can be customised to your requirements!!

Edited the language files to contain HTML code for the accented letters á, é, í, ó, ú. Also for ñ, ã, â and ç. They now should appear fine on all browsers with Latin support.
Created the admin side of a customizable houseclean.asp. Now need to put the customisation into houseclean.asp, but im tired so going to bed!

Setup file progress.
It now diagnoses for:
- Absent database variables in config.asp
- Failure to connect to the database
- No session variables on the server
It will give advice on how to fix/add the respective parts, once all complete it will move on to setup natterchat! Just need to test now with a few empty databases.
After this i then have a lengthy list of bugs to fix and try and get the flicker free chat working with PMs and log-out! The Joy!!! 16th July 2004
Chat setup file in progress. Diagnoses problems that may inhibit Natterchat from working and offers possible solutions. Also a script has been started to allow the correct setup of Natterchat, however there are some problems with this conflicting with config.asp,which is needed? Very bizarre and hard! When i've played a bit of GTA i will look at it again :)

So, admin is now 100% working and complete. About to fix up some minor probs and then prepare a working test site of the latest build which includes the multi language support. PMs again will be absent from this test version.
All minor probs minus one fixed. Portugese installed thanks to Jorge! 4 languages!! WHOOO!

Natterchat is now in English, Spanish and Italian, although PMs and admin still to be finished. Admin can now add, edit and delete languages, as well as setting the default language. Users can then change this language when getting to the homepage. This will be the only place to change the language. In version 1.2 this will be a preference that will be stored in the DB, but not for this version i am afraid! Tomorrow, admin will be finished and SQL testing begins!!

Admin can now set an option so that the user can change whether messages appear top or bottom, small bug, but works.
We have SPANISH!! Everything but PMs (as they arent working) and admin is now is spanish, and other languages with the translations! The user chooses the language before they enter the room. Once inside the room, it would be tricky to change language. Going to try tomorrow!

Password retrieval 100% working and hopefully error free. Admin session variable check for admin pages. Admin pages are nearly complete, just need to add one page with options of what the user can and cant change in their browsing experience. The room name now appears at the top of the message pane. In the users pane, clicking your own name now displays your preferences, well a box that will have preferences, need to write these.
Few minor bugs fixed and another major bug found in all versions. When the clock ticks from 23:59 to 00:00 then the idle time and online times change drastically to negative numbers. Need to somehow work out how to not let this happen, thinking cap i think.
Language support will start tmw, only basics will be added initially, just to see it working, i will then update the test site with this, so people can chat in a certain degree of spanish as well as english!

Changed database fields and files to reflect. Removed the time of the messages from being displayed. You now view it on mouse over of the username. System commands are now displayed differently to normal posted messages. Database repair and compression is 100% working. Password retrieval system is up and running, just needs to look good and uniform now!

Tidied up some pages. Added some fields to database. Worked more with flicker free chatting, got it nicely working. Installation of win2k3 server later next week will get a nice SQL test working.

on a SQL server!!
